HALLOWELL — Roland R. Courtemanche, 84, of Hallowell, passed away peacefully Monday, April 16, at his home.

He was born in Easthampton, Mass. on Dec. 19, 1933, son of the late Amedee L. and Marie Reine (Mathieu) Courtemanche.

He attended Holy Family School, graduated from St. Dominic High School in 1951, and earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy in 1955. He owned Medical Arts Pharmacy in Lewiston, worked at Laverdiere’s Super Drug Store, and in his later years he was a volunteer at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta in the hospital pharmacy, and was a member of the Art Committee. As a young man he acquired his private pilot’s license and enjoyed taking friends and family on aerial tours of the area. He loved classical music, classic foreign films, magic tricks, shrimp scampi, and a properly made manhattan.

He was predeceased by his wife, Sally, his daughter, Laurie, and his brother, Gilbert.

Roland is survived by his two sons, David and his wife Sandra of Lewiston, and Anthony and his wife Patt of The Netherlands; and four grandchildren, Amanda, Molly, Hannah and Maxwell.
