NASHUA, N.H. — Lois Eileen (Parker) Sawyer, 80, of Nashua, N.H., died peacefully on Sunday, April 1, at Aynsley Place in Nashua, N.H. She was born in Auburn on Jan. 5, 1938, the daughter of Walter E. and Etheleen G. (Foss) Parker. She was a graduate of Edward Little High School Class of 1956 and the Albany School of Nursing Class of 1960. Lois was married to the late Gary R. Kent Sr. for 17 years. She was remarried in 1992 to Rodney E. Sawyer until his death in 2013.
A lifelong registered nurse, Lois worked in several facilities over a 40-year career, including Goodall Hospital, Webber Hospital, Bath Memorial Hospital, Southern Maine Medical Center, and Greenwood Nursing Home.
She was fondly known as Grammy Lo by her family and she most loved spending time with her family and baby-sitting her grandchildren. Additionally, Lois was an avid lover of everything outdoors, including hiking, camping, canoeing, skiing, beachcombing, tennis, swimming, body-surfing, and bird-watching. One of her favorite places to go was Morse’s River in Popham, Me. She also enjoyed painting with watercolors and oils, singing in church and playing the piano and guitar. Lois was active in the Episcopal church and cherished Easter sunrise and Christmas Eve ceremonies.
She is survived by her three sons, Gary R. Kent Jr. and wife, Amalia, Scott P. Kent and wife, Lisa, and Jeffrey A. Kent and wife Jennifer; 12 grandchildren, Alicia King and husband, Barry King II, Maria Beers and husband, Michael, Richard Kent and his wife, Marianne, Eleni Kent, Tanner Kent, Callahan Kent, Peyton Kent, Makenzie Kent, Parker Kent, Joanna Kent, Addison Kent and Bailey Kent; and a great-grandson, Barry King III.
