LEWISTON — The Center for Wisdom’s Women has announced its April programming. All morning programs are from 10 to 11:30 a.m. The center will be closed Friday, April 20.
Peasant Pantry Cafe: 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, April 12. The cafe features one-pot sustainable meals from different countries. This month, the dish is Mulligatawny Stew. The meal is open to the public free. Donations are welcome and are shared among the women who prepare the meal.
Dream Workshop: Friday, April 13. The center will host Deborah Pfeffer to talk about dreams, why people have them and focusing on one or two dreams and their meaning.
New Books, New Readers: 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday April 14. The center will host a reading class for women who are learning English or need practice to read better.
Volunteer Appreciation Day: Tuesday, April 17. The center will recognize all the women who have volunteered throughout 2017 and 2018. This includes women who volunteered a dedicated number of hours each week, taught a class, boards members and companions. A light lunch will be provided.
Women’s Healing Arts Circle: Thursday, April 19. The center will host Dr. Maryam Mermay as she leads a circle intended for women seeking to heal any source of grief through a life-giving and playful connection with the arts.
Bingo: Tuesday, April 24.
Art Van: Wednesday, April 25.
April Birthday Celebration: 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 25. April birthdays will be celebrated.
Clothing Give Away: Thursday, April 26.
Essential Oils: Friday, April 27. The center will host Bethany Rackliff as she demonstrates how to make bug spray using essential oils.
A full calendar of events and descriptions of support groups is available at www.wisdomswomen.org. The center’s hours are from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to noon Fridays. All women are welcome; programs are offered free; and no appointments are needed. Oatmeal breakfasts are available daily, and the center has a shower.
The center is also seeking volunteer applicants for companions. The role requires women to have a professional background in social work, teaching, nursing, chaplaincy or other related fields, and companions work with local women. The commitment is a half-day weekly. Those interested should contact Executive Director Klara Tammany at 207-513-3922.
