‘Electrifying Otisfield’ to be meeting topic

OTISFIELD — The Otisfield Historical Society’s first program for 2018 will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 12, at the Community Hall. Following a brief business meeting and the annual election of officers, the meeting will focus on “Electrifying Otisfield,” a timely topic for those residents who recently experienced a loss of electricity.

Using a PowerPoint presentation, a panel of OHS members will explore the beginnings of electric power in the state and the introduction of electricity to town on Sept. 20, 1928, as recorded in the diaries of Eva Elliot and Arthur Bean and documents from the household of Annette Pottle.

Refreshments will be served after the meeting. All are welcome.

Franklin County Farm Bureau program

FARMINGTON — The Franklin County Farm Bureau and Maine Game Warden Rick LaFlamme will discuss landowner rights at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 12, at the Farmington Municipal Building, 153 Farmington Falls Road.

Learn what the rights and responsibilities of a landowner are. Light refreshments will be served.

April Break Stay-Cation Camp planned

WILTON — An April Break Stay-Cation Camp will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, April 16 to 20, at Academy Hill School.

SeniorsPlus office hours in Farmington

FARMINGTON — The SeniorsPlus office will be open for scheduled appointments Wednesdays from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Walk-in hours are from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. and will be held on the second Thursday of every month.

Staff will be on hand to answer any questions or concerns about services and resources for older adults and adults with disabilities and their families. These services are free and open to the public.

Fare Share Co-op offers information sessions

NORWAY — Fare Share Co-op, which is celebrating its 40th year, is making a shift in its organizational policies. Enacted by the board of directors in 2017, the shift is from automatic discounts at the point-of-sale to a system of Patronage Dividends that are issued at the end of each fiscal year.

Patronage Dividends are profits that are returned to Fare Share owners based on their level of patronage/purchases. This system will be implemented in January 2019.

Two one-hour interactive information sessions will be held to inform owners and the public about Patronage Dividends and how they work. The first will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 12, and the second will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, both at Fare Share Commons. Light refreshments from the store will be served. The May 15 session will include Zafra Whitcomb from Belfast Co-op, which made the shift to PD.
