FARMINGTON — Regional School Unit 9 and two administrators have settled a dispute with a former teacher who was accused of harassment after his contract was not renewed in 2016.

The school board voted unanimously March 27 to “authorize the board chair to sign the settlement agreement recommended by legal counsel,” Superintendent  Tom Ward said Wednesday.

RSU 9, Ward and W.G. Mallett Principal Tracy Williams had filed temporary protection from harassment orders against Daniel Patterson of Farmington in early March. He was accused of harassment after his teaching contract was not renewed in June 2016, according to the court document.

Patterson denied the allegations in March.

A hearing on the final orders was scheduled for March 28 but was continued to April, according to a court document.

“The dispute has been resolved,” Ward said Monday. “We agreed to resolve it so we can all move forward.”

The protection from harassment orders have been dropped, he said.

According to the settlement agreement, the parties cannot disclose what is in the agreement, Ward said.
