RUMFORD — Brooke Carver of Rumford, a senior at Mountain Valley High School and daughter of Christopher and Deborah Carver, has been selected to receive the 2018 Principal’s Award, Principal Matthew Gilbert announced. The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals’ Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement and citizenship.
Gilbert said, “Brooke embodies everything that we value most in our students at Mountain Valley High School. She is safe, respectful, responsible and involved. As an active member of the Mountain Valley community, Brooke plays four varsity sports, is an active member of the Student Council, National Honor Society, captain of the Math Team and holds a state office in the National Honor Society. Brooke is recognized by her peers as a leader in our school community and has attended several leadership conferences. She is the captain of multiple sports teams and is a member of the Captain’s Club. In the classroom, Brooke takes multiple Advanced Placement and Honors classes.” Carver will graduate as salutatorian of the Class of 2018.
Carver, other award winners and their principals will attend an Honors Luncheon in Bangor on Saturday, April 7.
The Honors Luncheon recognizes the outstanding students with the presentation of an individual plaque and the awarding of 10 $1,000 scholarships in the names of Horace O. McGowan and Richard W. Tyler.
