GARDINER — Open Book Players will present “The World of Carl Sandburg” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 7, and 2 p.m. Sunday, April 8, at Johnson Hall Performing Arts Center, 280 Water St. 

Sandburg’s works, adapted by Norman Corwin, were first performed by Bette Davis and Lief Erickson, and a host of others in New York and on tour. The best of the Pulitzer Prize-winner’s verse, including some previously unpublished works and prose, and parts from the biography of Lincoln, create a mosaic sample of this talented writer’s literary contributions. The performance is interspersed with American folk songs from his Songbag.

The cast includes Frank Omar and Bill Haley of Hallowell, Arthur Bourget, David Moisan and Constance LaFlamme, all of Gardiner, Christine Heckman of Monmouth, Cindy Turcotte of Bowdoin, Ginger Smith of Winthrop, and Kathy Kauffman of Auburn. Music is provided by Robert Giroux of Belgrade and Curt Jack of Lewiston.
