AUBURN — Ronald R. Hafford, 81, a Clover Manor resident in Auburn, passed away Friday, March 23. He was born in Presque Isle, the son of Kenneth and Alma Hafford. He attended local schools and was an avid basketball player.
Ron was a driver and trainer for MHRA. He drove his first standard bred horse race at the age of 16 and won his first race.
Ron married Marilyn Pullen in 1964 and they enjoyed 53 years of marriage.
They lived many years at Lewiston Raceway where he continued his harness racing career.
He was father to Donna Mae Hafford, and stepfather to Vernan Childs, Pam Bubier, Linda Gordon, Ruth Jewell, Richard Pullen, Paula Hook and Charles Manter. He is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his wife, Marilyn, his brothers, Kenneth Jr. and Richard.
He was predeceased by his parents; a brother, John; and a sister, Grace.
Ron was a wonderful man and will be greatly missed by all that loved him.
