DIXFIELD — William “Bill” Hart Schnorr, 92, of Dixfield passed away at home in Dixfield, surrounded by his family, Wednesday, March 21.
Bill was born Sept. 30, 1925, in Slatersville, Rhode Iasland, to Edward Henry and Stella Hart (Tabor) Schnorr. He joined the military at 17 to fight in World War II in the Army Air Corps as a bombardier and gunner. Afterwards, he started Schnorr Construction and did excavations, paving, well digging and more for the majority of his life. After his “retirement,” he purchased a Wood-Mizer sawmill and started “Bill’s Mill,” where he and his wife, Fe, traveled around the area to saw wood.
Bill played hockey in the North Smithfield Old Timers’ League until he was 65 years old. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, water skiing, traveling and pool parties.
Bill is survived by his wife, Fe Aleon Schnorr; his children, Duane and wife, Monique Schnorr, of Pascaog, R.I., Donna Hoffer of Florida, Susan Grey of Nantucket, Mass., Lynn Schnorr of Stratton, Jill Schnorr of Portland and Ming Feng Schnorr of Dixfield; and his stepchildren, John Farrel of Covina, Calif., and Sally Gervais of Uxbridge, Mass.
He was predeceased by a son, Kevin Schnorr, and a stepdaughter, Mary Lee Schnorr.
