BETHEL — Roland “Oscar” Annis Jr., 89, of Bethel, passed away on Sunday, March 18, at his home.
He was born in Gorham, N.H., on Nov. 8, 1928, the son of Roland and Eugene Blowers Annis. He attended Bethel schools and married Louise Bishop in 1951. He worked for the town of Bethel before working for the Maine Department of Transportation as a foreman for Region 7, retiring in 1989 after 31 years. He belonged to the Maine State Employees Association and was a member of the Handicap Ski program at Sunday River. He was known as a “prankster.”
He is survived by his son, Scott Annis, and his wife, Wendy, of East Bethel; three grandchildren, Jacob, Axel and Amanda; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Louise, on Nov. 15, 1993, as well as his brothers and sisters.
