NEW GLOUCESTER — Annie “Midge” E. Demers, 98, of New Gloucester, died on Thursday, March 15, at her residence, with her loving family by her side, following a long illness.
She was born in Auburn on Dec. 8, 1919, the daughter of the late Clifton E. and Abbie (Bickford) Johnson and had been a resident of this community all of her life. She was married to Andrew Demers on Oct. 8, 1938, and he died on June 3, 1981.
She was a member of the First Auburn and Robin Dow Senior Citizens and a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church.
Annie was very proud of her family. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting and traveling with the senior citizens. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by two sons, Andrew Demers Jr. and his wife, Patricia, of New Gloucester, and Richard Demers and his wife, Patricia, of New Gloucester; three daughters, Donna Brown of New Gloucester, Ann Macomber and her husband, Phillip of Gray and Kathy Meserve and her husband, David, of Auburn; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 21 great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Andrew Demers; two brothers; one sister; and two grandsons.
