WOODSTOCK — A tractor-trailer driver from Canada lost control of a rig, which pulled down two utility poles and crashed into an apartment building on South Main Street on Wednesday morning, Woodstock Fire Chief Kyle Hopps said.

There were no injuries, he said.

Hopps said the driver, whose name was not immediately unavailable, was  attempting to turn at Route 26 and South Main Street when he lost control of the truck.

“He said that he lost control and as the truck slid, he took out two of our utility poles, along with the wires and transformers, and struck the building at 4 South Main St., causing moderate damage,” Hopps said.

The cause of the crash is under investigation by the Maine State Police, the chief said.

The Woodstock, Greenwood and Bethel Fire Departments helped with traffic control, while state police and the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office investigated.

Hopps said Central Maine Power, Spectrum and other utility companies were also at the scene.

The nor’easter that blew through Maine on Tuesday and Wednesday didn’t have much impact in Norway and Oxford, officials there said.

Oxford police Lt. Mike Ward said it was “business as usual,” other than “a few vehicles that slid off the road.”

An officer with the Norway Police Department said there were no issues there.
