Police are investigating vandalism to an excavator at the Forster mill in Wilton and damage to a town loader in Chesterville this week.
On Monday morning workers at the mill demolition site discovered pink paint sprayed on an excavator.
Wilton Police Chief Heidi Wilcox said Tuesday that the vandalism occurred during the overnight hours. Footprints showed those involved followed the brook and went in around the fence on the backside.
“The area was fenced off,” Wilcox said. “It’s dangerous to be in there.”
There is no estimate of the damage and there are no leads, she said.
The vandalism is being investigated by Wilton Officer Efra Becerra. Anyone who saw anything suspicious is asked to call Becerra at the Wilton Police Department, 207-645-3876.
In Chesterville, Franklin County Sheriff’s Deputy Keith Madore responded to a report of criminal mischief at 7:44 a.m. Tuesday on Mace Road.
Chesterville Road Foreman Mike Cote said someone put a rock through the window of the town’s loader, but he wasn’t sure when it happened. There is no estimate on the damage.
Anyone with information is asked to call Madore at the Sheriff’s Office, 207-778-2680.
