ANSWER: What a wonderful idea! I hope the historical society and church get a lot of participants. How special to return to the church where you were married to gather with other couples and have your union be blessed. I wonder which couple will be able to say they’ve been married the longest?

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Thank you for your help in the past. I need it again. I’m looking for a recipe for salmon pie. I can’t find any in my recipe books. I want just a plain pie recipe, not a large amount.
— No name, Livermore
ANSWER: I do love a good salmon pie and this question brings back dear memories of my grandmother. She was a wonderful cook and when she passed away I inherited her rolling pin. Here is her recipe:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Line a 9-inch pie plate with pastry.
In a large bowl, combine 2½ to 3 cups cooked mashed potatoes (no milk or butter added), ½ cup finely chopped onion, ¼ cup butter, ½ teaspoon celery seed, ½ teaspoon salt and 1/8 teaspoon pepper.
Drain and flake the contents of a 14.5 ounce can of salmon, crushing in bones. You can also use fresh cooked salmon. Layer the potatoes and salmon in the pastry. Cover with top pastry, seal edges and cut vents for steam to escape. Bake 40-45 minutes or until bubbly and golden brown. Serves 4-6.
Grandma always served this with hot buttered vegetables from her garden and homemade sweet pickles!
DEAR SUN SPOTS: I have a cross-stitch project with all the supplies and will pay for someone to finish it for me. My number is 207-320-0324. Thank you.
— Julie, Livermore
