Historical society to discuss bylaws

BUCKFIELD — The Buckfield Historical Society will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 8, at the Buckfield Town Hall.

Members will discuss revisions of the bylaws. Everybody is welcome.

Farmington Rotary to meet

FARMINGTON — The Farmington Rotary meets at 7 a.m. Thursdays in the Olsen Student Center at the University of Maine at Farmington.

INDUSTRY — Northern Lites Snowmobile Club meets at 6:30 p.m. on the second Sunday of the month, September to April, at the Industry Town Hall.

LIVERMORE FALLS — The Livermore Falls Library Association will hold its annual meeting at 6 p.m. Monday, March 12, at Treat Memorial Library.

All adult residents of Livermore Falls are encouraged to attend.

Norway Legion to meet

NORWAY — Meetings at the Norway Legion will be held on the second Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m.

Coffee hour will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesdays with desserts. All are welcome.

JAY — The Buttons4Babes Giving Circle meets from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month at 170 Main St.

‘Edible Landscaping’ topic of lecture series

PARIS —  The third in the 2018 McLaughlin Garden lecture series will be held Wednesday, March 14, when Barbara Emerson of Have Green Thumb will present “Edible Landscaping.” Emerson will show that growing food can fit into a home landscape as an attractive feature.

Emerson has worked for “Horticulture” magazine and Edible Boston. She has moved to Maine and now offers sales and marketing services to the lawn and garden industry. She is passionate about vegetable gardening and is a principal master gardener.

The illustrated lecture will begin at 4 p.m. upstairs in the historic Tribou home at 97 Main St., South Paris, where Bernard McLaughlin lived with his wife. Tea will be served at 3:30. The lecture is free and open to the public. Parking is just to the north of Maurice’s; a driveway will be plowed.

This is the third in the six lecture series held weekly on Wednesday afternoons. Donations will be accepted for the preservation of the buildings and garden.
