Common opponents: As part of the KVAC/SMAA crossovers schedule, the two teams faced eight common opponents — Cheverus, Deering, Gorham, Lewiston, Portland, South Portland, Thornton Academy and Windham (EL faced Lewiston twice, Scarborough faced Gorham twice). EL was 7-2 in those games. Scarborough was 8-1.
Gold ball history: Edward Little’s last state championship came in Class A in 1946. The Red Eddies lost back-to-back championship games against Thornton Academy and Cheverus in 2009-10. Cheverus’ title was later vacated by the Maine Principals’ Association (but not rewarded to EL) due to an ineligible player. This is Scarbrough’s first state championship game.
