ANDOVER — Pineland Ski and Outing Club, with the help of Andover Recreation Committee and Andover Elementary School, will host a Winter Carnival on Saturday, March 3, with a storm date of Sunday, March 4.
The event caters to country ski and snowshoe enthusiasts. Free events include guided ski and snowshoe tours of Akers Family trails, a selfie scavenger hunt and fun agility course to test maneuverability for all ages.
Fee events are two-person relays, age 14 and younger, and the “Bumps Run,” an interval start downhill cross country ski challenge for all ages. Both events are $5 each.

There will be snow sculpture and snow angel competitions as well as snowshoe races. Registration will start at 9 a.m. at the school.

The Andover Elementary School fifth grade will host a Chili /Chowder Cook-Off as part of the carnival. Entry forms may be obtained by contacting Ms. Thurston at 207-392-4381 or kthurston@andoverschoolmaine.org.
Carnival participants and guests will be able to purchase samples for $1 each or six for $5 for chili and chowder to vote for the Peoples Choice Award. The chili and chowder will also be available by the bowl for $5. All proceeds from the cook-off will go toward the fifth grade end-of-year trip.
Ski racers participate in a recent Andover Winter Carnival. This year’s carnival will be March 3.
