CHELSEA — Edgar “Bruce” Leroy Degen, 44, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 13, peacefully at his home.
He was born in Newton, N.J., on March 23, 1973, the son of James and Patricia Degen. He was educated in Auburn schools, attending Edward Little High School, and went on to own his own business as a carpenter.
Bruce enjoyed spending time with his four kids, grandchildren and family. He was a very generous, kind and loving man. He had many gifts and talents that he enjoyed sharing. His big smile and contagious laugh could brighten anyone’s day.
He is survived by four kids: Brittani Degen of Auburn; stepdaughter, Alicia Burns, and son-in-law, Frank, of Raleigh, N.C.; stepson, Jeremy Whittaker, of Augusta; and stepson, Jeff Whittaker, and wife, Ashlie, of Pittston; five brothers, Christopher Degen and wife, Sheryl, of Westbrook, Kevin Degen and wife, Eva, of Auburn, James Degen Jr. of Auburn, Scott Degen and wife, Lauri, of Jacksonville, Fla., Henry Degen and wife, Tina, of Sabattus; two sisters, Billie Curtis of Oxford and Christina Degen and husband, Thomas, of Poland; 10 grandkids; and many nephews and nieces.
He was predeceased by his father, James Henry Degen, and a brother-in-law, Scott Curtis.
