The Maine Gladiators will be holding the 46th annual Lion’s Youth Hockey Tournament this weekend. The Opening Ceremonies will be Saturday, Feb. 18 at 9:20 a.m. at the Norway Savings Bank Arena in Auburn. This year’s tournament runs from Friday evening, Feb. 16, through Monday, Feb. 19. As always, more than 400 young hockey players from all over Maine will be competing. Teams from Orono, Augusta, Gorham, Portland, Biddeford, and Brunswick will join the local Maine Gladiator teams for a weekend of competition. Players range from 4 years old to 15. This rich tradition continues to be the longest-running youth hockey tournament in the country.

In addition to the first- and second-place prizes in each division, a multitude of raffle prizes and special sportsmanship awards and scholarships will be given out thanks to local sponsors of the tournament, including the local referee association.

The Maine Gladiators would especially like to recognize the Fortin Group for being the major sponsor of the tournament once again this year.

The complete schedule for this year’s Lion’s Tournament can be found on the Maine Gladiators’ website at www.mainegladiators.com.
