SABATTUS — Police responded to three car crashes within two hours on Tuesday evening.
One was serious; a passenger was taken to a hospital with broken bones, Chief Gary Baillargeon said Wednesday.
In the other two crashes, no one was transported.
Traffic was tied up in all three crashes as police closed single lanes, but managed to keep traffic flowing through the crash scenes.
In the serious accident, two cars collided head-on on Sabattus Road around 6 p.m. A 2006 Nissan driven by Nathan Holmes, 35, was eastbound when it crossed the centerline into the path of an oncoming 2002 Mercury car driven by Randall Booker, 63, who was westbound near Pleasant Hill Road.
Jeremy St. Hilaire, 34, a passenger in Holmes’ car, was taken by ambulance to a hospital with serious injuries. A passenger in the Mercury was transported to a hospital after complaining of pain.
Police don’t know what caused Holmes’ car to cross lanes; the accident remains under investigation, Baillargeon said.
One of the other accidents happened at about 5 p.m. when two cars collided at the intersection of the I-95 off-ramp and Middle Road, Baillargeon said. No one was transported to the hospital.
At about 6:15 p.m., a car and pickup truck collided at the intersection of Middle and Pleasant Hill roads. No injuries were reported.
