BANGOR — St. Dom’s allowed the first goal of the game to Bangor’s Charlie Budd, but replied with a goal of its own just 22 seconds later, and the Saints steamed forward to defeat Bangor, 3-1, in a Class A North boys’ hockey matchup.

Dominic Chasse scored the first goal for St. Dom’s (8-7-1) and assisted on its third goal from Will Fletcher. Zach Pelletier had a goal and an assist, as well.

Saints’ goalie Gaston Fuksa saved 31 of 32 shots, while Jacob Henry of Bangor (9-7) made 21 saves.

Lewiston 8, Cony 0

LEWISTON — Lewiston jumped out to a 2-0 first-period lead and never looked back, defeating Cony 8-0 in a Class A North boys’ hockey matchup.

Evan Cox of Lewiston (15-2) scored the Blue Devils’ first two goals. Jack Leblond also scored twice for Lewiston. Cony moves to 7-7-2 on the season after the loss.

Mt. Ararat/Lisbon/Morse 3, Massabesic/OOB/Bonny Eagle 1

Noah Austin led Mt. Ararat/Lisbon/Morse with two goals as the Eagles defeated Massabesic/OOB/Bonny Eagle 3-1 in a Class A boys’ hockey game Tuesday.

Austin scored the go-ahead goal in the third period and also scored an empty-net goal. Austin assisted on Owen Kelly’s goal. Cade Charron saved 38 shots for the Eagles.

Brady Cormier scored for Massabesic/OOB/Bonny Eagle (4-12), while Bryson Pomerleau saved 17 shots. The Eagles move to 7-8 on the year with the win.

Unified basketball

Lisbon 59, Oxford Hills 28

LISBON — Lisbon’s Dawson Martel scored 16 points as the Greyhounds defeated Oxford Hills 59-28 in a Unified basketball game on Tuesday.

While Martel led all scorers, Lisbon also got 12 points from Cameron Segovia and 10 points from Michael Farrington.

Brandon Robare scored 14 to pace Oxford Hills.

Bangor coach resigns

BANGOR — The Bangor High School basketball coach resigned Tuesday in the aftermath of his weekend arrest for operating under the influence.

Varsity coach Carl Parker told the Bangor Daily News on Tuesday that he feels awful, but added that “if you screw up, you’ve got to own it.”

Parker said he was returning from a Class AA North coaches meeting in Lewiston on Saturday when his car slid on ice while passing a vehicle on I-95. State Police confirmed Tuesday that Parker was arrested at the scene of the fender bender. His blood-alcohol content wasn’t immediately known.

Parker’s departure came on the same day Bangor played at Windham in a Class AA North quarterfinal game. Jon McAllian, the Rams’ junior varsity coach, handled coaching duties. The Rams lost the game, 78-62.
