AUBURN — Andre C. Castonguay, 83, a resident of Livermore Falls, passed away peacefully Sunday, Feb. 11, at Hospice House of Androscoggin in Auburn, with his loving family at his side.
He was born Nov. 2, 1934, in Canton, the son of George Castonguay and Alberta (Moreau) Castonguay. He was a 1954 graduate of Jay High School. On July 11, 1959, at St. Rose of Lima Church he married Marguerite Legere of Jay. They enjoyed 50 years of marriage before her passing in 2010. Andre worked as a heavy equipment operator at International Paper Co. in Jay. He was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church and a member of the International Paper Company Quarter Century Club. He enjoyed working around his home, gardening and most recently sitting at the gazebo by the river. He enjoyed spending time with his family and his beloved grandchildren.
He is survived by his sons, Lucien Castonguay and his wife, Lyn, of Bristol, Virginia, and George Castonguay and his wife, Denise, of Jay; his daughters, Noella Loon and her husband, Ray, of Jay, and Celine Gilbert and her husband, Thomas, of New Gloucester; 15 grandchildren, Ezekiel, Elijah, Ethan, Eran, Emilia, Simeon, Julia and Kaitlin Castonguay, Ray Loon Jr. and his wife, Cassandra, Brad Loon and companion, Kate, Sierra Poulin and husband, Grant, Marc Gilbert and his wife, Ellen, Stephen Gilbert and his wife, Victoria, Philip Gilbert and Hannah Gilbert; three great-granddaughters, Melody, Julia and Myra; brothers, Francis “Frank” Castonguay of Livermore, and Bertrand Castonguay of Jay; sisters, Jane St. Pierre of Livermore, Annette St. Pierre of Rumford, Constance St. Pierre of Jay, Laurianne Castonguay, Mariette Castonguay and Elaine Castonguay, all of Livermore; in-laws, Adrien Legere of Auburn, Jeannine Perreault and husband, Robert, of Jay and Aline Purrington of Jay; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Marguerite; his son, Marcel Castonguay; his sister, Bernadette Castonguay; and his brother, Romeo Castonguay.
