SKOWHEGAN — A new Art at the Library show is on display at the Skowhegan Free Public Library, designed to banish the darkest winter blues.

On view now through the end of March, “Articulture: Art off the Farm” exhibits local artist Jeff Seaberg’s radiant and abstract perceptions of life on his farm in Phillips. His artwork features typical farm residents, like cows and roosters, but perhaps his most notable stars are the alpacas.

Open Arts, a committee of Wesserunsett Arts Council, will host an open reception for Articulture from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, downstairs at the library. Food and drink will be available, accompanied by the musical musings of John and Fawn Paradis, with a special appearance by Jugband James. Seaberg will be in attendance to talk about his travels, his art and the featured furry faces.

“Open Arts is thrilled to present this show, particularly at this time of year, as it emits a vibrancy that is often lost during winter months in Maine,” said Mary Haley, project coordinator for Wesserunsett Arts Council.

Seaberg currently resides in Maine but has traveled the world studying art, from Montserrat College of Art, where he received a BA in fine art, to Viterbo, Italy, to Costa Rica. Other collections of his art, which can be found on his website, reflect his travels in his brushstroke and use of dynamic color.

Seaberg sells originals and prints of his art on his website. Additionally, fans can purchase fun, domestic items such as cell phone cases, tote bags and apparel, all printed with their favorite art piece.
