LINCOLN — Josh Banks grabbed a pass from Keegan Melanson and fired it into the net during overtime to give Leavitt a 70-69 victory over Lincoln in a late-season boys’ basketball tilt Tuesday.
Wyatt Hathaway led the Hornets (7-10) with 23 points, five rebounds and three steals. Banks finished with an impressive 17 points, while Cole Morin added 13 points and pulled down 13 rebounds for the double-double.
Lincoln was led by Keyden Leeman with a stellar 22 point effort, while Nate Masters tallied 14 and Brendan York added 12.
Oxford Hills 74, Gardiner 44
PARIS — Chris St. Pierre led the way with 26 points and Oxford Hills used a strong third quarter to pull away from Gardiner for a 74-44 win in a KVAC boys’ basketball countest Tuesday.
Colton Carson added a double-double for the Vikings (12-6) with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Janek Luksza added 12 points and Will Dieterich hauled in 10 boards in the win.
Kyle Johnson and Ben Shaw each netted eight points for the visiting Tigers (7-10).
Yarmouth 69, Poland 24
POLAND — Yarmouth shot out to a 32-point lead at the half and never looked back in a 69-24 win over Poland in a WMC boys’ basketball tilt on Tuesday.
Nolan Haggerty led the balanced attack for the Clippers (11-6) with 18 points. Caden Middleton and Jim Torres added nine each.
Tyler Tucci was the top scorer for the Knights (2-15) with 12 points, including a pair of 3-pointers. Peter Bolduc added four in the loss.
Cape Elizabeth 62, GNG 58
GRAY — Cape Elizabeth went on a 23-15 tear in the third quarter and pulled away to record a 62-58 victory over Gray-New Gloucester on Tuesday.
Finn Bowe led the Capers (10-7) with 29 points, highlighted by a pair of shots from beyond the arc.
The Patriots (10-7) were led by Hunter Colby with 16 points, while John Martin chipped in with 12 points.
Edward Little 54, Brunswick 41
BRUNSWICK — Wol Maiwen led a powerful three-man attack on Tuesday as Edward Little rolled to a 54-41 victory over Brunswick in a local boys’ basketball tilt.
Maiwen led the Red Eddies (13-4) with 24 points, while Darby Shea tallied 14 and Ibn Khalid added 10.
The Dragons (11-6) were paced by Colby Bucknam with 13 points, while Dawson Hebert tallied 12 in a well-balanced attack.
Erskine 57, Mt. Blue 41
FARMINGTON — Erskine built a 15-point advantage in thr first half and hung on to post a 57-41 late-season win over Mt. Blue in a boys’ basketball tilt Tuesday.
Braden Soule led Erskine (8-10) with 18 points, while Jack Jowett tallied 14 and Caden Turcotte added 11.
Garrett Reynolds led the Falcons (1-16) with 17 points, while Randy Barker chipped in with 10.
Girls’ basketball
Poland 58, Yarmouth 22
YARMOUTH — Poland played what its coach called “the best quarter of basketball he’s seen all year” in the first frame Tuesday, hitting its first 10 shots en route to a 27-point advantage, and ultimately a 58-22 win over Yarmouth in their Western Maine Conference battle.
Nathalie Theriault led the way for the Knights (13-4) with 23 points, nine steals, nine assists and five rebounds. Jessica Seeley added 18 points, six boards and four steals, and Morgan Brousseau added eight rebounds and six steals.
Clementine Blaschke led the Clippers (5-12) with 10 points in the loss.
Mountain Valley 59, Dirigo 50
RUMFORD — Mountain Valley used a 19-12 run in the fourth quarter to secure a 59-50 victory over Dirigo in more late-season girls’ hoops action on Tuesday.
Rylee Sevigny led the Falcons (11-7) with 19 points, including 13 in the first stanza. Brooke Carver and Saydie Garbarini also contributed with 10 points each.
The Cougars (2-16) were paced by Alexa Varnum with 11 points, their only athlete in double digits.
Richmond 46, Winthrop 45
WINTHROP — Richmond jumped out to a five-point lead in the first quarter and hung on to post a 46-45 win over Winthrop in an MVC girls’ tilt Tuesday.
Sydney Underhill-Tilton led the Bobcats (13-5) with 22 points, while Ashley Abbott chipped in with nine.
The Ramblers (7-11) were paced by Jillian Schmelzer with 12 points, while Layne Audet tallied eight and Natalie Frost added seven.
Rangeley 41, Temple 34
WATERVILLE — After a close first half, Rangeley used a 8-2 run in the third quarter to pull away for a 41-34 victory over Temple in a regular season girls’ basketball finale on Tuesday.
Natasha Haley led the Lakers (16-2) with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Brooke Egan also contributed with eight points, 12 rebounds and five steals.
The Bereans (11-7) were paced by Delayni Carr with a solid 12-point performance, while Selam Heinrich chipped in with 10 points.
Oak Hill 42, Lisbon 28
WALES — Oak Hill put its offense into high gear starting mid-game on Tuesday and raced away to a 42-28 win over Lisbon in more late-season girls’ basketball action.
Abby Nadeau led the Raiders (14-4) with strong 14-point performance, while Desirae Dumais chipped in with 12 points.
The Greyhounds (6-12) capped their season with big effort from Giana Rousseau who lit the boards for 12 points.
St. Dom’s 38, Waynflete 34
AUBURN — After jumping out to a six point lead in ther first quarter, St. Dom’s managed to hang on for a narrow 38-34 victory over Waynflete in more local girls’ hoops action Tuesday.
Caroline Gastonguay and Becca Zimmerman led the Saints with 12 points each, the only players to reach double figures.
Waynflete was paced by Lydia Giguere with a solid 12-point effort, while Sophi Aronson chipped in with nine.
Leavitt 43, Lincoln Academy 31
TURNER — Sophie Gilbert poured 21 points into the net to propel Leavitt to a 43-31 late-season girls’ hoops win over Lincoln on Tuesday.
Taylor White chipped in for the Hornets with seven points, while Kayleigh Gilbert added six.
Lincoln was led by Chelsea Williams with a solid 11-point performance.
Gray-NG 71, Cape Elizabeth 44
CAPE ELIZABETH — Jordan Grant drained 24 points on Tuesday to lead Gray-New Gloucester to a 71-44 late-season romp over Cape Elizabeth.
Eliza Hotham chippied in for the Patriots with 14 points the only other player in double figures.
The Capers were paced by Erin O’Rourke with a solid 16-point performance.
Unified basketball
Lisbon 68, Oak Hill 20
LISBON — Cameron Segovia led a group of four players in double figures as Lisbon hustled to a 68-20 rout over Oak Hill in a Unified basketball tilt on Tuesday.
Segovia poured a game-high 18 points into the net, while Wesley Lucas tallied 14 and Dawson Martel added 12. Misty Coleman also stepped up her game with a solid 10-point effort.
Oak Hill was paced by Kourtney Gauthier with eight points, while Zachary Desrosier added five and Tommy Grayson nailed a well-timed three-pointer.
Edward Little 42, Poland 23
POLAND — Amsden Hayes led a balanced attack as Edward Little outrun Poland 42-23 in a Unified basketball game in Poland on Monday evening. Four other Red Eddies added six points each in the victory.
David Ellington led the Knights with 11 points.
