PARIS — John F. Daggett, 32, of Paris, was called by Our Lord on Friday, Feb. 2, 2018, with his loving wife Heather Bonneau Daggett by his side, after an eight-month struggle against cancer.

John was born at the Newport, Rhode Island, Naval Hospital on Feb. 15, 1985, and lived in Big Sur, California, Virginia Beach, and Halifax, Nova Scotia, before his family moved to Harrison. A 2004 graduate of Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School, John loved theatre and acted in several plays and sang in the choir. He even directed Shakespeare plays in high school and later at Saint Joseph’s College, from which he graduated in 2008. A talented guitarist and vocalist, his performance of the Beatles’ “In My Life” at OHCHS during graduation week earned a standing ovation. He accompanied choirs at St. Ignatius Church in Bedford, Nova Scotia, while attending junior high school there, as well as at St. Joseph College during and after his time as a student there and at Our Lady of Sebago.

An Eagle Scout, John loved the outdoors and spent many summers at Camp Hinds in Raymond, first as a camper, then counselor-in-training, and rising through the positions of nature area director, archery instructor, lifeguard, and deputy commissioner. For his Eagle Scout project, he organized the construction of storage shelving at the Sienna House in Norway to support the Oxford Hills Food Pantry. In 2001, he served as an archery instructor at the Scouts Canada national jamboree in Prince Edward Island, and then at the Boy Scouts of America national jamboree at Fort A.P. Hill, Virginia. As a Scout, he served in various leadership positions in Troop 401, Virginia Beach, 1st Bedford (Canada) and Troop 130, South Paris, and as an assistant scoutmaster after turning 18. He enjoyed camping in all seasons, and was a winter camping instructor at Camp Hinds. He was a Brotherhood member of the Order of the Arrow.

A young man of great faith, John earned all the applicable Catholic religious awards in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Scouts Canada. He later became a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus in St. Joseph Parish, Bridgton.

The happiest day of John’s life was marrying Heather Bonneau on May 21, 2016. They lived on Ryerson Hill, where John enjoyed horseback riding on their farm. Together, they enjoyed drives though the mountains, visiting the ocean, movies, music and caring for their animals. Some of their favorite adventures together include trips to Mount Washington, Grafton Notch, and the coastal town of Rockland.

John was a loving and devoted husband, a good son and brother, a loyal and supportive friend, and an inspiration to all who knew him.

John is survived by wife Heather; his parents, Deacon Francis and Barbara Daggett of Harrison; sister, Catherine of Durham; grandparents, Linwood and Marjorie Daggett of Kittery and Millie Malonson of Middletown, New Jersey; father-in-law, Armand Bonneau and wife Priscilla of Paris; brother-in-law Shawn Bonneau of Los Angeles, California; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
