MONMOUTH — William S. Pollard, 82, a resident of Monmouth, passed away unexpectedly Friday, Feb. 2, at his home, with his family by his side.

He was born March 26, 1935 in Boston, the son of William S. Pollard Sr. and Brenda (Graham) Pollard. He was a 1953 graduate of Monmouth Academy. On May 6, 1977, he married Mary E. Foster in Monmouth. William taught carpentry at CMVTI for 12 years. He worked as a self-employed carpenter for many years, and later worked for his son at Pollard Construction.

William was a member of Monmouth Fire Department for 45 years, Monmouth Fair Association, Monmouth Fish and Game, Monmouth Snowmobile Club and formerly served on the board of directors for Cobbossee Water District. He enjoyed ice fishing, hunting, reading, camping, gardening, and traveling, having covered all 50 states and many Canadian provinces. Above all, he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Pollard, of Monmouth; two sons Michael Pollard and his wife, Renelle, of Monmouth and Jeffrey Bickford and his wife, Melissa, of Brunswick; two daughters Linda Grant and her husband, Ronald, of Monmouth and Cathy Barter and her husband, Thomas, of Brunswick, four grandchildren: Sierra and her husband, Evan Behles; Chelsea Grant; Christopher Barter; and Brooke Barter; and two great-grandchildren Owen and Knox Behles.

He was predeceased by his parents and an infant brother.
