LEWISTON — Jesse Erickson used a choke hold to prevail, Bruce Boyington was relentless on the canvas and Kemran Lachinov brought home a title for himself Saturday night in a New England Fights card at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee.

Boyington threw everything he had at Taylor Trahan and finally used a rear-naked choke to finish off his bloodied opponent in the 150-pound match

Erickson’s choke hold earned him submission victory over Mike Hansen in 170-pound pro bout. Hansen appeared to be going limp before the referee called the match.

Lachinov took home the NEF welterweight title, beating CJ Ewer with a submission victory. Aaron Lacey went on to defeat Josh Parker in the 145-pound match. Zenon Herrera picked up his first professional victory, taking out Nate Charles by unanimous decision in the three-round fight.

Ryan Burgess found out quickly that this 145-pound amateur match between him and Nate Boucher would not develop into a boxing match Saturday night.

Most of the action was on the floor when Boucher and Burgess went head to head, but Burgess emerged with a hard-fought, split-decision victory over Boucher.

The Rumford resident relied on his jujitsu expertise to beat a strong former wrestler like Boucher.

“I have to give that win to (trainer) Jason Bell,” Burgess said. “Nate was a strong wrestler.”

The professional portion was as equally exciting as the amateur bouts.

It was the slam heard around the Colisee when Kam Arnold picked up Kyle Kenney and slammed him to the canvas in a 135-pound amateur matchup. After dropping ferociously Kenney, Arnold pummeled Kenney on the mat to earn a TKO victory.

Jada Bailey was relentless the first two rounds of a 135-pound bout. She tirelessly pursued Amanda Gallo all over the ring, but Gallo’s kicks held off Bailey. Gallo was awarded the victory by unanimous decisions.

Shawn Lunghi got right down to business and shelved Devin Corson with a submission victory in the first round of a 145-pound match.

Two big men — Joe Berube and Ryan Glover — battered each other in the first round and never let up until the bell rang in a 205-pound slugfest. Glover delivered blow after blow and eventually dropped Berube to the mat, but Glover couldn’t pin him. Glover kept on pounding Berube in the third round and went to win by TKO after the referee called it.

Catie Denning and Chelsea Elizabeth traded blows all around the ring in the first half of a 135-pound match. The endless punches didn’t stop in the second round, either. Both fighters were showing some wear and tear before the bell rang. But Denning kept coming and came out on top in the third round, beating Elizabeth in an unanimous decision.

Carlton Charles followed Lupo’s lead and pummeled Delmarkis Edwards in the opening minutes of a 175-pound amateur bout, winning by TKO.

The crowd took a break to honor former New England Patriots Ronnie Lippett and Max Lane, who were on hand to rally fans.

Stacy Lupo didn’t waste any time when he dispatched a younger David Hart with a first-round TKO in a 155-pound matchup.

Mohammad Al Kinani and Isaac Therrien traded blows and tackled each in a 160-pound fight that was stopped in the first round when Therrien’s nose was bloodied. Therrien tapped out due to numerous strikes to the head, giving Al Kinani the win.

In a 115-pound amateur bout, BJ Garceau came out swinging and unleashed a flurry of punches in the first round, but Sarah Ziehm stood her ground and backed her off for the moment. The two tangled on the floor in the second round, but each fighter didn’t come up with a pin. But after a long batted, Garceau won by split decision
