PORTLAND — Eleanor “Ellie” L. Pike (Pikey), 84, of Oxford passed peacefully in Portland on Sunday, Jan. 28.
Eleanor was born in Lewiston on Jan. 18, 1934, the daughter of Myron and Hazel (Martin) McAllister. She married Malcolm C. Pike on Nov. 22, 1949. They raised three daughters. Ellie worked many years at the local shoe factory, until retiring to care for her ailing husband. After his passing you would find her at many sporting events of her great-grandchildren. Ellie was known for her big heart and her amazing family meals. Ellie loved animals, especially her special dog Luke. She was a member of the First Congregational Church in South Paris. She was the crime watch of Allen Hill.
She is survived by her three daughters, Cyndi (Phil) Smith, Mary (Dick) Durgin, all of Oxford, and Donna Springer of Waterford; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; her sister, Phyllis McKay and her husband, Fred, of Lewiston; and two sisters-in-law, Wilma Pike of Norway and Nellie Pike of Oxford; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband; and two brothers Durward and Robert McAllister. Ellie had many special friends and neighbors.
Ellie’s family will forever be grateful to her best friend Faylene McKeen and amazing neighbors Bill and Louise Brown and Sandy and Audrey Luke.
