AUBURN — Roland R. Gagnon, 88, of Lewiston, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Jan. 25, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice in Auburn, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Lewiston on April 22, 1929, the son of Alcide J. and Imelda M. Frechette Gagnon. Roland attended St. Louis School in Auburn. He joined his father in the family business, Alcide J. Gagnon Decorating, Inc., and was in business for over 45 years, along with his brother Paul and son Robert, retiring in 1992. He was a Third Degree Knight of Columbus. On May 30, 1949, he married the former Alice Houle at Sacred Heart Church in Auburn. They were happily married for 68 years. He is survived by his wife Alice Gagnon of Lewiston, who will miss him very much. He also leaves behind his three children, Robert Gagnon and wife Doreen (Parent) of Lewiston, Ronald Gagnon and wife Claire (Lessard) of Lewiston, and Ann Marie (Gagnon) Neal and husband Jeffrey of Windham, four grandchildren, who meant the world to him; Ryan Gagnon and fiance Devin Hodgkins, Sarah Gagnon and husband Dana Burbank, Allison Gagnon and husband Martin Graef, and Lauren Neal. Roland was fortunate to have the joy of being great-grandfather to Carter Burbank and Evan Graef. He was happy to know that a new baby is expected in June. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Rita Thibodeau, a brother, Paul, a niece, Diane Williams and a nephew, Paul Thibodeau.
