LEWISTON — Caleb Labrie book-ended a dominant second period with a pair of goals and the Lewiston/Auburn Nordiques routed the Long Beach Sharks for the second day in a row for a 7-0 victory in an NA3HL junior hockey game Sunday at Androscoggin Bank Colisee.
Already up 2-0 after one period thanks to goals by Clifford Ogle (assisted by Labrie and Cole Ouellette) and Adam Colclough, the Nordiques put the game away in the second. It took Labrie more than seven minutes to get the scoring going again, but his goal assisted by Ouellette and Ogle started a trend. Crew Berry and Nick Ventura added goals of their own, then Labrie scored again with 45 seconds left in the frame to make it 6-0.
The Nordiques — the first-place team in the Coastal Division — out-shot the bottom-dwelling Sharks 22-3 in the second and 53-26 for the game.
Colby Audette rounded out the scoring with a shorthanded goal in the third.
Ryan Cortez made 46 saves for the Sharks. Sage Broda turned away all 26 shots he faced to secure the shutout for the Nordiques.
