BETHEL — In a battle for their first win of the season, sophomore center Lucy Rothwell contributed 23 rebounds to go along with nine points as Telstar edged Wiscasset 41-37 in girls basketball action Friday evening.

The Rebels (1-11) took a 27-19 halftime lead. Sophomore guard Calla Orino led Telstar with 11 points.

Senior gaud Grace Webber netted a team-leading 13 points on thre field goals and seven free throws for the Wolverines (0-11) in the losing effort.

Rangeley 58, Valley 33

BINGHAM — Senior forward Natasha Haley recorded a double-double with 20 points and 15 rebounds as Rangeley sank Valley 58-33 in girls’ basketball action Friday afternoon.

The Lakers (11-2) turned up the waves in the second half, outscoring Valley 32-13 in the stanza. Sophomore gaurd Lauren Eastlack contributed 10 points for Rangeley.

Kennedy Savoy was the leading socrer for the Cavaliers (4-8) with nine points, while Kendra Sweet posted 10 rebounds in the losing effort.

Oxford Hills 86, Bangor 41

BANGOR — Maighread Laliberte drained a game-high 20 points to lead Oxford Hills to an 86-41 rout over Bangor in girls’ baksetball action Friday afternoon.

The Vikings turned up the tempo in the second half, scoring 24 points in each quarter while limiting the Rams to just seven and five points, respectively.

Jada Adams and Julia Colby produced a complimentary 15 and 14 points apiece for Oxford Hills.

Rowan Andrews led Bangor with nine points in the losing effort.

Mountain Valley 43, Mt. Abram 38

SALEM — Junior forward Kierstyn Lyons and freshman guard Rylee Sevigny manufactured 13 points each as Mountain Valley finished off nicely with a 43-38 victory over Mt. Abram in girls’ basketball action Friday afternoon.

The fourth quarter experienced 11 lead changes. The Falcons (9-3) were able to make four foul shots in the waning seconds.

Junior guard Summer Ross notched a game-high 19 points for the Roadrunners (6-6) in the losing effort.

Hebron 44, Seacoast Christian 28

ELIOT — Senior guard Maddy New collected 13 points to lead Hebron to a 44-28 triumph over Seacoast Christian in girls’ basektball action Friday evening.

The Lumberjacks (4-3) came out chopping in the first quarter, taking a 20-5 lead in the frist frame. Junior forward Eliza Quinones had a double-double with 18 rebounds and 11 steals for Hebron.

Cadence Robbins posted a game-high 17 points for the Guardians (6-6), draining 15 of her 17 in the second half.

Oak Hill 45, Lisbon 32

LISBON — Abby Nadeau poured in 18 points to lead Oak Hill to a 45-32 victory over Lisbon in girls’ basketball action Friday evening.

The Raiders catapulted to a 22-8 halftime lead. Desirae Dumas chipped in with 11 points for Oak Hill.

Giana Russo led the Greyhounds with 11 points on four field goals and three from the charity stripe in the losing effort.

St. Dom’s 54, Sacopee Valley 24

AUBURN — Caroline Gastonguay registered 13 points to lead St. Dom’s to a comfortable 54-24 victory over Sacopee Valley in girls’ basketball action Friday evening.

The Saints took a poewrful 37-6 lead at the midpoint. Becca Zimmerman added 12 points for St. Dom’s.

Haiden Sawyer scratched out a team-leading seven points for the Hawks in the losing effort.

Poland 52, Lake Region 36

NAPLES — Senior guard Nathalie Theriault lobbed a game-high 20 points and hauled down nine rebounds to lead Poland to a 52-36 victory over Lake Region in girls’ basketball action Friday evening.

The Knights (9-3) were strong on offense in the middle two quarters. Senior forward Jessica Seeley contributed 13 points for Poland.

The Lakers (9-4) trailed in each quarter except for a 10-9 run in the final frame in the losing effort.

Boys’ basketball

Gray-New Gloucester 55, Wells 53

WELLS — John Martin scored 10 of his game-high 22 points in the fourth quarter as Gray-New Gloucester held off a late Wells rally with a 55-53 victory in boys’ basketball action Friday evening.

The Patriots led 42-35 after three quarters. Hunter Colby contribued 11 points for Gray-New Gloucester.

Matt Sherburne packaged 21 points, while Cameron Cousins provided 15 points for the Warriors in the losing effort.

Mt. Blue 70, Leavitt 51

FARMINGTON — In his first game back since suffering a wrist injury in the final preseason game, Garrett Reynolds paced Mt. Blue to a 70-51 victory over Leavitt in a KVAC boys’ basketball game.

It was the Cougars first win of the season; they are now 1-11.

James Anderson had a double-double for Mt. Blue as he had 16 points and 10 rebounds.

The Hornets (5-7) had a big scorer of their own as Wyatt Hathaway dropped in 27 points in the losing effort.
