Hospital giving tree raises $2,070
RUMFORD — Rumford Hospital has announced that the third annual Christmas Giving Tree raised $2,070 in support of the Equipment Fund.
Donors purchased an ornament tag for $10 in honor or in memory of a loved one, which was displayed on the Christmas tree in the hospital’s main lobby. Local businesses sponsored the Christmas Giving Tree for $100 or more.
Giving Tree donations benefit the Equipment Fund, which helps to improve the health of patients at Rumford Hospital with everything from wheelchairs to state-of-the-art life-saving equipment.

Land trust to sponsor snowshoe hikes
BETHEL —The Mahoosuc Land Trust will lead a snowshoe hike on a newer area trail, Lapham Ledge, on Saturday, Jan. 27. Those going will gather at 10 a.m.at the Buck’s Ledge trailhead on Route 26, just north of the Bryant Pond public spring.
The Lapham Loop snowshoe trail offers a 1.5-mile round trip moderate hike. Wear warm clothes, bring water and be prepared with snowshoes or boots with micro spikes. Hot cocoa and snacks will be provided.
Wednesday, Jan. 31, will mark the second full moon of January. A snowshoe by moonlight will take place at 6 p.m. at the Valentine Farm, 162 North Road. Participants will be able to walk one or both of the half-mile loops. The easy hike is good for people of all ages and abilities.

Andy Valley snowmobilers to meet
JAY — The Andy Valley Riders Snowmobile Club will meet at 7 p.m. the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at the clubhouse from October to April.
