Dance to the Jones Orchestra
PARIS — A dance with the Jones Orchestra is held from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturdays, weather permitting, at the Paris Legion Hall, Church Street.
Admission is $5 and there is food and drinks.
The Jones Orchestra features Wally Jones on trumpet, Allen Hutchinson on piano, Vern Record and Wayne Cox on drums and new member Linwood Cash on guitar.
Skeet shooting at fish and game
WATERFORD — Recreational skeet shooting is held at 1 p.m. Saturdays and 9 a.m. Thursdays at the Waterford Fish & Game Association, Route 118.
The public is welcome and should bring a shotgun and ammo. The cost is $3 a round of 25 targets.

Norway Historical Society reorganizing
NORWAY — The Norway Historical Society will be closed the next three Saturdays, Jan. 20, 27 and Feb. 3.
Trustees and volunteers are working on a major storage reorganization. New shelves are being assembled in a newly-designated storage area in the basement, and collection items will be moved from the attic to the basement. Then the attic will be renovated.
Regular Saturday hours will resume on Feb. 10.
Women’s club plans Doris’ Brunch
JAY — The GFWC/Livermore Falls Women’s Club will meet at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 25, at LaFleurs Restaurant.
At the January meeting each year, the club celebrates Doris’ Brunch. This brunch is named after Doris Rothrock, who was the club secretary from 1990 to 1998. She moved to the area from out of state with her husband, who became the Methodist minister in Livermore Falls. Each January, she invited the club to her home for the January meeting and is remembered for serving a delicious jellied salad. Copies of that recipe will be available at the meeting.
The business meeting will be a discussion of upcoming community service projects, State President’s projects and future workshops.

Wind energy film to be screened
BETHEL — The documentary film “Windfall” will be shown at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 25, at the Telstar High School auditorium.
The film is open to all and there is no charge for the showing. The film offers a perspective on a rural community’s experience with the development of commercial wind turbines. Both pro and con sides will be shown in order to assist residents to think critically as opinions form.
There is a snow date of Thursday, Feb. 8.
Fourth Thursday Poetry 2018 begins
RUMFORD — The Rumford Library’s Fourth Thursday Poetry program will begins its fifth year at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 25.
Poets and poetry lovers will gather to share poems and talk. Light refreshments will be served. The gathering is free and open to all.
