AUBURN — Robert “Bob” C. Goddard, 73, passed away peacefully at the Hospice House in Auburn on Friday, Jan. 12, with his family by his side, following a battle with pancreatic cancer.
He was born July 3, 1944, in Rumford, the son of Chester “Chet” and Sylvia Goddard. He graduated from Mechanic Falls High School in 1963. Bob served in the Air Force, Army National Guard and Army Reserves. In 1973, he married Peggy Kahkonen. They were a great team and had a wonderful 45-year marriage.
Bob was a jack-of-all-trades and an avid outdoorsman. He spent the majority of his life doing carpentry and maintenance. He enjoyed his retirement years helping the Mechanic Falls Public Works Department.
Bob was a proud member of the American Legion Post 150 in Mechanic Falls for 38 years. He served as a sergeant at arms, historian and on the House Committee.
Bob is survived by the love of his life, Peggy; son, Michael Berry and girlfriend, Kathy; daughter, Becky Michaud and husband, Brian; granddaughters, Sierra Higgins and husband, Derek, Kayla Loudermilk and husband, Adam, and Heather Michaud; great-grandchildren, Olivia, Nathan and Sophia; as well as several nieces, nephews and dear friends. He is also survived by his siblings, Stanley Goddard and wife, Willa, Donna Goddard and partner, Danny, and Anjileque DeChaine-Chumley.
He was predeceased by parents, Chet and Sylvia Goddard, and brothers, Donald Goddard and Sidney Goddard.
