NEW VINEYARD — A tractor-trailer driver from Utah was charged with distracted driving after his truck went off Route 27 while he was looking at his GPS on Thursday afternoon, Maine State Police Trooper Randy Hall said.
Spencer Larsen, 25, was not hurt in the rollover, Hall said.
Larsen said he was hauling a load of wood products from Maine Wood Concepts on Route 27 at about 1:30 p.m. when he looked at his GPS to figure out how to get to the turnpike.
The 2011 Volvo, owned by DDM Transport of Salt Lake City, went off the road, broke a utility pole and flipped over, Hall said.
Route 27, from Barker Road in Farmington to Route 234 in New Vineyard, was closed while the accident was investigated, downed power lines were removed and the tractor-trailer was righted and hauled away.
New Vineyard Fire Department and Farmington Fire and Rescue assisted with traffic control.
