PARIS — Oxford Hills jumped out to an 18-3 first quarter lead over Lewiston on Tuesday, and never looked back, defeating the Blue Devils 66-33 in a Class AA North boys’ basketball matchup.
Chris St. Pierre led all scorers with 17 points for the Vikings, including two 3-pointers. Colton Carson scored eight points and grabbed 13 boards in the win.
Lewiston drops to 2-6 with the loss, while Oxford Hills returns to .500 at 4-4 with the victory.
Maranacook 74, Leavitt 51
READFIELD — After building a comfortable 12-point advantage in the first half, Maranacook kept up the offensive pressure and rolled to a 74-51 midseason boys’ basketball win over Leavitt on Tuesday.
Jarred Schmidt led the Black Bears (6-2) with 19 points, while Skyler Boucher and Mitch Root each tallied 12. Bryan Riley also contributed with 10 points in a well-balanced attack.
The Hornets (4-4) were paced by Wyatt Hathaway with a solid 18-point effort.
Fryeburg 42, Gray-New Gloucester 34
FRYEBURG — Fryeburg used a 15-5 run in the fourth quarter to pull out a 42-34 victory over Gray-New Gloucester in a boys’ basketball tilt Tuesday.
Tucker Buzzell led the way for Fryeburg (4-5) with 13 points, while Scott Parker chipped in with nine.
The Patriots (5-3) were paced by John Martin with nine points, while Nick Pelletier tallied seven.
Rangeley 72, Highview Christian 32
RANGELEY — Rangeley sprinted out to a 16-point advantage in the first quarter and cruised on to a 72-32 victory over Highview Christian in a midseason boys’ basketball tilt Tuesday.
Kyle LaRochelle led the Lakers (7-3) with a collegiate-like 31 points and seven rebounds. Kenny Thompson chipped in with 16 points in a powerful two-man attack.
David Stanley led Highview (2-5) with a fine 19-point performance.
Girls’ basketball
Richmond 56, Dirigo 29
DIXFIELD — After building a commanding 15-point advantage in the first quarter, Richmond left it in high gear and sped away to post a 56-29 midseason girls’ basketball victory over Dirigio on Tuesday.
Sydney Underhill-Tilton led the Bobcats (6-4) with a game-high 24 points, while Ashley Abbott tallied 11 and Bryanne Lancaster added eight.
The winless Cougars (0-9) were paced by Ashley Perreault and Page Lueders with six points apiece.
Monmouth 80, Telstar 17
MONMOUTH — After jumping out to a 22-point lead in the first frame, Monmouth kept its foot on the gas and raced home to a 80-17 romp over Telstar in girls’ basketball action Tuesday.
Tia Day led a five-player double-figure assault for the Mustangs (8-1) with 16 points, while Abbey Allen tallied 13 and Hannah Andersen added 11. Julia Johnson and Abby Ferland also contributed with 10 points each in a well-balanced attack.
The winless Rebels (0-9) were led by Luci Rothwell with an 11-point effort.
Lawrence 52, Mt. Blue 39
FARMINGTON — Lawrence used a 15-3 third-quarter run to take control and hustled to post a 52-39 midseason victory over Mt. Blue on Tuesday.
Brookyn Lambert led the Bulldogs (4-4) with 19 points, while Molly Folsom chipped in with nine.
Mt. Blue (2-7) was paced by Lexi Mittelstadt with a game-high 23 points. Jacelyn Daggett contributed 11 points for the Cougars.
Gray-New Gloucester 68, Fryeburg 34
GRAY — Jordan Grant put in a collegiate-like performance Tuesday to propel Gray-New Gloucester to a 68-34 girls’ basketball win over Fryeburg.
Grant led the Patriots with 31 points, while Brianna Jordan chipped in with 10.
Fryeburg was led by Kalie Eastman with a solid 11-point performance.
Edward Little 49, Bangor 31
BANGOR — Edward Little took control early and romped to a 49-31 girls’ basketball victory over Bangor on Tuesday.
The Red Eddies (5-3) outscored the Rams 16-2 in the opening quarter.
Grace Fontaine paced Edward Little with 14 points, highlighted by a pair of 3-pointers. Piper Norcross put up 11 points, and Chantel Ouellette scored 10.
Libby Flemming topped Bangor (2-6) with 12 points.
Rangeley 67, Highview Christian 20
RANGELEY — Natasha Haley notched a double-double as Rangeley ran away with the win from the beginning, defeating Highview Christian 67-20 in a Class D South girls’ basketball matchup Tuesday.
Haley scored a game-high 20 points and also pulled down 13 boards and made six steals in the Rangeley victory. Haley wasn’t the only Laker scoring, as Brooke Egan added 15 and also had nine steals.
Highview Christian was led by Megan McDonald, who scored 12 in the loss that brought the visitors to 1-6 on the season. Rangeley moves to 8-2 with the win.
Mt. Abram 43, Wiscasset 35
STRONG — Mt. Abram held off a second-half surge from Wiscasset to get the 43-35 victory Tuesday in a Class C South girls’ basketball contest.
Summer Ross went 8-for-10 at the free-throw line in the first quarter for Mt. Abram, and ended up with 21 points to lead all scorers.
Sydnie Thayer led Wiscasset with 14 points, but the loss brings the Wolverines’ record to 0-10, while Mt. Abram’s win brings its record to 5-4.
OOB 54, St. Dom’s 43
AUBURN — St.Dom’s started out strong, taking a nine-point lead at the half, but Old Orchard Beach stormed back and defeated the Saints 54-43 on Tuesday in a Class C South girls’ basketball contest.
Maggie Strohm led OOB with 14 points, including 10 in the second half, to aid the comeback. Shani Plante added 11 for the Seagulls.
Becca Zimmerman led the Saints with 15 points, but it wasn’t enough as St. Dom’s fell to 4-3, while OOB moved to 5-2 on the year.
Oxford Hills 57, Lewiston 43
LEWISTON — Oxford Hills held a nine-point halftime lead and held steady in the second to defeat Lewiston 57-43 on Tuesday in a Class AA South girls’ basketball matchup.
Julia Colby led all scorers with 23 for the Vikings with three 3-pointers. Victoria Harris led Lewiston with 15 points in the loss, which brings the Blue Devils’ record to 4-5. With the win, Oxford hills rises to 6-2.
Leavitt 47, Maranacook 25
TURNER — Sophie Gilbert scored 16 points and grabbed 19 rebounds as Leavitt defeated Maranacook 47-25 in girls’ basketball action Tuesday.
Gilbert pulled 12 rebounds off the defensive glass and seven off the offensive glass. Becca Fogg contributed six points along with five blocks and two steals for the Hornets.
Anna Drillon led the Black Bears with 11 points.
