SCARBOROUGH — Muriel E. Logan, 92, formerly of Buxton, passed away late in the evening hours Thursday, Jan. 4. She was born Nov. 11, 1925, a daughter of Milford and Elizabeth Sarah (Taillon) Mutlow.
Muriel grew up in Attleboro, Mass., and was a graduate of Attleboro High School. After graduation, she attended beauty school in Boston, Mass., becoming a licensed beautician. After working with her aunt for several years at the beauty salon, Muriel married James H. Logan on Sept. 25, 1948, upon his safe arrival home from the war.
After spending a year in Maryland, the couple made their home in Lewiston where Muriel was actively involved in children’s activities and community events. In addition to being a Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader, she volunteered much of her time to St. Mary’s Hospital in Lewiston. Muriel was a member of the St. Mary’s Auxiliary club and Patronesses of St. Mary’s Hospital. A natural caregiver to her family, she was a devoted wife and mother.
Muriel was a talented woman who enjoyed painting, knitting and sewing. She especially loved tending her bountiful gardens and using her creative skills and imagination to create home art and décor. Muriel and James made a good pair in many ways: They made memories playing tennis, golf and bowling with their good friends. Muriel and James are now together again, beautifully dancing with one another as if they picked up right where they left off.
Muriel is survived by her children, James H. Logan Jr. of Buxton, and Jill Logan and her husband Manuel Williams of Buxton; grandchildren Jacqueline Logan and John Logan; brother-in-law John Logan and his wife, Pearl, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, James, in 2011.
