LEWISTON — Museum L-A has received $800 in grant funding from the Lewiston Auburn Children’s Foundation toward its Kids as Curators program. In the program, local students work closely with Museum L-A staff to create, install and share their own museum exhibits.

In 2018, 160 students from Auburn Middle School and Lewiston High School will participate. Trips to Museum L-A and tours of the collection will provide many students with their first hands-on experience of local history, and building an exhibit will give them a real-world application to build skills in research, writing and artistic design.

Museum L-A is located in the Bates Mill Complex, 35 Canal St. Hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 am. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Special tour requests and large group tours outside of these hours are available by appointment.
