WILTON — For those who are looking to make a change in careers or get a new job, the Wilton CareerCenter will offer programs for job-seekers in January. Vocational Rehabilitation Orientation: 9 to 10:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 4. This is an orientation for people with disabilities who are considering vocational rehabilitation services. Orientations are held the first Thursday of the month. Service providers are also welcome to attend. Registration is not required. 

For those in the River Valley area, the Vocational Rehabilitation Orientation workshop is scheduled for 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17, at Region 9 School of Applied Technology, 377 River Road, Mexico.

MEOC-101 — Essentials of College Planning: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 25. This workshop introduces people to educational opportunities in general and Maine Educational Opportunity Center (MEOC) services in particular. This interactive workshop touches on the four steps in the college process: admissions, financial aid, career and study skills. The financial aid portion of this workshop will provide an overview of financial basics and the completion of the Free Application of Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Small Business Trainings: Small Business Administration will be offering three different workshops: “Starting Your Own Small Business,” “Access to Capital” and “Federal and State Resources for Small Business.” Most of these workshops are two hours long. CareerCenters, part of the Maine Department of Labor, offer a variety of services to help people find employment or upgrade skills. Each center provides several public-access computer workstations with Microsoft Office software, resume writing and cover letter software, Internet access and O’Net software for skills assessment. All CareerCenter services are free of charge.
