AUGUSTA — Everett F. “Skeet” Higgins, 77, a resident of Litchfield, passed away Saturday, Dec. 23, at Maine Veterans Home in Augusta. He was born Feb. 13, 1940, in Waterville, the son of Perley Higgins and Irene (Chute) Higgins.
Skeet was a graduate of Erskine Academy in South China. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1957 to 1961. He worked for Maine Department of Transportation in survey, construction and planning. On April 21, 1991, he married Jean Ridley of Litchfield. Skeet enjoyed golfing, camping, hunting, ice fishing, all sports, bingo and time spent with kids.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Higgins; his stepson, Matthew Byras and granddaughter, Autumn Byras, all of Litchfield; his sister, Christine Jerolman of Vassalboro; nieces, Terri Blair of Whitefield and Tina Breton of Vassalboro; his nephew, William Baker of Belgrade; and several great nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; twin sisters, Lois Mishou and Louise Baker; and his grandson, Caleb Byras.
