The focus on Saturday will be freezing rain leading to icing. Here’s how we anticipate it will unfold.
Timing: The lull we experienced early this morning has ended. A steady and heavier round of freezing rain will be with us this afternoon and through the first half of the night. Precipitation will come to an end late Saturday night 7PM to 11PM.

Type. Freezing rain looks to be the dominate type of precipitation for most of the area today. Icy conditions are expected. Power outages are possible. The exception will be in the western mountain region and northern Maine where snow/sleet will hang on a bit longer though the day.
How Much Ice: Ice Accumulations may get into the 0.25″-0.50″ range. Saturday.
Sunday will showcase a welcome return to some sun and temperatures look seasonable. If you’re traveling Christmas Eve Day, Don’t anticipate any weather related problems. Our next storm will arrive late at night Christmas Eve and extend though Christmas Day. More snow is likely and based on today’s forecast, another half foot to foot appears to be in the cards. In the wake of the Christmas Storm, will be the coldest air of the season so far. Highs will struggle to get out of the single digits late week. Overnight lows may dip to 10 to 15 below. Stay tuned.
