LEWISTON — Marion O. Donnell, 93, a resident of Wales, passed away on Friday, Dec. 15, at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Forks on May 25, 1924, the daughter of Parker W. and Velma (Sizeland) Otis. Marion attended elementary schools in Bingham and Wales and graduated from Monmouth Academy, Class of 1941. She then attended Bates College, graduating in the Class of 1945, cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa. She taught Latin and English at Jay High School, Richmond High School and Winthrop High School. On Aug. 4, 1947, in Monmouth, she married Herbert Edson Donnell of Wales; he died on Nov. 7, 2010. She enjoyed music and reading and loved her family very much.

Marion was a life member of Boynton Chapter, #88, OES, in which she was an officer for 46 years, 37 of them as the organist. She was a member of the United Church in Monmouth; served as organist from 1974 to 2009. Marion was the first woman elected to the Board of Trustees of Monmouth Academy. She was active in work of RAFTS – AMI of Lewiston-Auburn as secretary and as treasurer for several years and she also served on the Board of Directors. Marion was a founding member of RAFTS and also the NAMI – ME. She was a member of Monmouth Congregational Society, served as secretary-treasurer for years.

She is survived by her daughter, Norma Leonard of Lewiston; her son, Wayne Donnell of Augusta; her three grandchildren, Scott Donnell, Jason Donnell and Heather Pelletier; and three great–grandchildren, Cohen Donnell, Alicia Donnell and Mason Donnell.

She was predeceased by her parents, and her husband, Herbert E. Donnell.
