PERU — Dorothy B. “Dot” Vaughn, 83, died Friday, Dec. 15, at her residence at Worthley Pond in Peru.
She was born in Rumford on Feb. 8, 1934. A daughter of Henry and Leonille “Winnie” (Boucher) Breau, and graduated from Stephens High School in Rumford, Class of 1953.
Dot was a secretary for many years at the Rumford mill until retirement from Boise Cascade. She also worked for the family business VON & Sons Trucking Company in Peru. She was a communicant of Parish of the Holy Savior, St. Athanasius – St. John Church where she was very active as a Eucharistic minister and served in the church choir. She loved to garden, flowers, and spending time with her family.
She was married in Rumford on July 18, 1953, to Elmore M. “Mac” Vaughn, Jr. who survives of Peru; Other survivors include sons Dwayne Vaughn and wife Janine of Peru, and Mark Vaughn and wife Barbara of Peru; son-in-law Danny McLeod of Winthrop; eight grandchildren: Tanya Vaughn and fiancé Eric Cote of Mexico, Tammy Lemay and husband Gary of Bowdoin, Sonya Moulton and James Moulton of Peru, Brian McLeod of Wilton, Danielle Read and husband Adam of N.C., Devon and husband Keith Langervin of Dixfield and Derrick and his wife Kori of Peru; great-grandchildren Kyle and Logan Cote of Mexico, Destiny Belanger, Hunter, Roger and Brookelyn Lemay of Bowdoin, Caiden Skidgell and Cambree Skidgell of Peru, Hannah, Isabella, and Adam Read Jr of N.C., Theodore and Wyatt McLeod of Wilton, Emry Vaughn of Peru; great-great-grandchild Landyn Cote of Mexico and was predeceased by her parents and a daughter Debra McLeod, a brother George Breau and a sister Jeannine Johnston.
