Wilton church plans Christmas concert

WILTON — A Christmas concert will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17, at the First Apostolic Church, routes 2 and 4.

There will be Christmas carols, puppets and skits. A free dinner will be offered after the concert.

Everyone is welcome.

Hosanna Church Christmas pageant

OXFORD — A Christmas pageant will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17, at Hosanna Church. Special Christmas music, along with a crew of little (and not so little) actors and actresses, will be featured.

The Youth Ministry has put the seasonal special event together. Youth leaders Carla and husband Harry Seidel, along with several other adults who work with the teens and children, have worked to make it a special night and a family friendly event.

Hosanna Church is located at 109 Schoolhouse Road, just off Route 121 near the intersection of 121 and 26 in Welchville.

All are invited to the free event.

Blue Christmas Service Dec. 19

PARIS — A Blue Christmas Service will take place at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 34 Buckfield Road, South Paris.

Christmas, the season of joy and light, can be difficult for those grieving the loss of a loved one, struggling with addiction or depression, who carry difficult memories of the season or feel worn out and overwhelmed by the pressures of it all.

The worship service is a collection of readings, reflection, prayer, healing and a little singing, designed to provide space to rest from the chaos and commotion. and just be.

The congregation will be joined by members of Christ Episcopal Church.

Christian Women United luncheon

PARIS — The Christian Women United luncheon will be served at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19, at the First Congregational Church on East Main Street.

The Rev. Don Mayberry will be the singer and speaker. This will be the last luncheon until April 2018. Reservations are required.

Service of Compassion and Hope

FARMINGTON — The Farmington Area Ecumenical Ministry ‘s annual Service of Compassion and Hope at Christmas will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20, at Fairbanks Union Church, 583 Fairbanks Road.

The service is offered for persons who may find the Christmas season to be a difficult time because of a personal loss, illness or other reason. The focus of the service is a candle-lighting ceremony in remembrance of others, or for hope for oneself or others. 

Pastors from local churches will participate and the service will be interpreted for deaf and hard of hearing in American Sign Language by Sherry Walrath.

Music will be provided by Karen Beacham, Debby Bliss, Doug Walrath, Nan Berry and John Vetne.

The service is open to the public. In the event of inclement weather, an announcement will be made on WKTJ.
