The Knights grabbed a 31-15 halftime lead. Jordan Gregory contributed 11 points for Poland.
Caroline Gastonguay led the Saints with 10 points in the losing effort.
Gardiner 58, Leavitt 45
TURNER —Aimee Adams poured 16 points into the net to propel Gardiner to a 58-45 victory over Leavitt in a girls’ basketball matchup Wednesday evening.
Leslie Stevens and Bailey Poore netted eight points each for the Tigers.
Logan Granholm chipped in with seven and Mikayla Bourassa added six.
The Hornets were paced by Sophia Gilbert with a game-high 23 points, while Rebecca Fogg and Taylor White chipped in with seven points apiece.
Madison 62, Telstar 24
MADISON — Sydney LeBlanc drained 16 points on Wednesday to lead Madison to a 62-24 rout over Telstar in an early-season girls’ basketball tilt.
Ashley Emery chipped in for the Bulldogs (2-0) with 11 points, while Lauren Hay and Kathryn Worthen each added nine.
The Rebels (0-2) were paced by Luci Rothwell with a solid 16-point performance.
Rangeley 69, Valley 25
RANGELEY — Senior forward Natasha Haley scored a double-double with 30 points and 12 rebounds as Rangeley cruised to a 69-25 victory over Valley in girls’ basketball action Wednesday afternoon.
The Lakers (1-0) started off slow before pouring on the offense in the second half. Rangeley scored 45 points in the third and fourth quarters.
Junior guard Brooke Egan pitched in with 14 points for Rangeley.
Junior forward Kennedy Savoy led the Cavaliers (1-1) with four field goals for eight points in the losing effort.
Boys’ basketball
York 73, Gray-New Gloucester 58
GRAY — Riley Linn poured 15 points into the net Wednesday to lead York to a 73-58 victory over Gray-New Gloucester in a boys’ basketball tilt on Wednesday.
Brady Cummins chipped in for York with 13 points, while Tim MacDonald added nine.
The Patriots were led by Zac Brady with 14 points, while Josiah Rottari added 10. Josh Magno and Wyatt Edwards contributed with nine points apiece.
Mountain Valley 71, Telstar 44
RUMFORD — Keegan Davis led a trio of players in double figures Wednesday evening as Mountain Valley rolled to a 71-44 early season rout over Telstar in boys’ basketball action.
Davis led the Falcons (2-1) with 22 points, while Taylor Pelletier chipped in with 13 and Will Bean added 10.
The Rebels (0-3) were paced by Jarrett Bean with a 21-point performance, while Blake Rothwell lit the nets for 15 points.
Valley 70, Rangeley 45
RANGELEY — Josh Brown led a group of four athletes in double figures as Valley hustled to a 70-45 romp over Rangeley in more boys’ basketball action Wednesday.
Brown led the Cavaliers (2-0) with 20 points, while Keegan Farnham chipped in with 15. Joey Thomas also contributed with 12 points, while Dillon Beane added 10.
The Lakers (0-1) were paced by Kyle LaRochelle with 15 points, while Nolan Boone added 11.
Gardiner 54, Leavitt 42
AUGUSTA — Connor McGuire led a trio of players in double digits on Wednesday as Gardiner rolled to a 54-42 boys’ basketball victory over Leavitt.
McGuire led the Tigers (2-0) with 14 points, while Cole Haeberlin chipped in with 13 and Cole Lawrence added 12.
The Hornets (0-2) were paced by Wyatt Hathaway with a solid 12-point effort, while Josh Banks contributed eight points.
Boothbay 84, Mt. Abram 42
BOOTHBAY HARBOR — Senior guard Kyle Ames drained a game-high 26 points to lead Boothbay to an 84-42 rout over Mt. Abram in boys’ basketball action Wednesday afternoon.
Sophomore guard Hunter Crocker knocked out nine field goals for 18 points for the Seahawks. Boothbay (1-1) came out strong in the third quarter with 34 points.
Sophomore guard Nate Luce paced the Roadrunners (0-2) with 20 points on eight field goals, including four from three-point range.
Girls’ hockey
Lewiston 3, So. Portland 0
PORTLAND — Brie Dube scored a goal and added an assist as Lewiston/Monmouth/Oak Hill skated to a 3-0 win over South Portland/Cape Elizabeth/Waynflete in a girls’ hockey tilt on Wednesday.
Jordan Mynahan and Gemma Landry also tallied for the undefeated Blue Devils (5-0) to complete the scoring. Katie Lemieux and Sara Robert also contributed with assists.
Camree St. Hilaire handled netkeeping duties for Lewiston, while Abby Joy worked in front of the net for South Portland.
Winslow 7, EL/Leavitt/Poland 5
TURNER — Anna Chadwick netted four goals Wednesday to lead Winslow to a 7-5 victory over Edward Little/Leavitt/Poland in more girls’ hockey action.
Sara Stevens, Julia Hinkley and Evelyn Hinkley chipped in for Winslow with one goal each. Brianna Doucette led the Red Hornets with a hat trick, while Isabel Berube and Taylor Cailler each scored a goal.
Women’s basketball
CMCC 69, SMCC 60
SOUTH PORTLAND — Sophomore guard Kristina Blais netted 23 points to lead the Central Maine Community College to a 69-60 triumph over the Southern Maine Community College in women’s basketball action Wednesday evening.
The Mustangs and Seawolves traded 20-11 outcomes in each of the first two quarters for a 31-31 halftime tie. The Mustangs took advantage of an 18-4 margin in turnovers.
Jordyn Reynolds and Eraleena Gethers-Hairton collected nine points and nine rebounds each for Central Maine.
Freshman forward Amanda Brett notched a game-high 29 points on 12 field goals and five free throws for Southern Maine in the losing effort.
