An environmental educator from ecomaine will attend a public hearing at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13, at the Otisfield Community Hall to answer questions about switching to single-sort recycling.
OTISFIELD — A representative from ecomaine, a Portland nonprofit, will be available at a public hearing Wednesday, Dec. 13, at the Otisfield Community Hall to answer questions about the town’s new recycling process.
The hearing will begin at 6:30 p.m.
At their Nov. 1 meeting, selectmen voted unanimously to search for a new recycling service after receiving complaints from residents about Tice Waste Management, with whom they had signed a contract in June.
On Nov. 8, Chairman Hal Ferguson said selectmen signed contracts with ecomaine to handle recyclables and Almighty Waste in Auburn to transport containers. He said there would be a switch to single-sort recycling, and two containers at the Transfer Station on White Oak Hill Road would hold recyclables.
Administrative Assistant Anne Pastore said Katrina Venhuizen, an environmental educator with ecomaine, would attend the hearing to give a presentation on single-sort recycling and answer questions.
