Few Oak Hill boys’ basketball teams have had a tougher act to follow than this year’s Raiders.
Coming off of a regional semifinal appearance, the Raiders will have to replace three starters and six contributors overall. Coach Tom Smith isn’t letting that limit the Raiders’ postseason plans, though.
“The goal is to get back there and hopefully make a little bit deeper run,” Smith said.
Replacing the point production of Marcus Bailey and Evan Boston will be a factor in whether that run happens. The Raiders have good size and athleticism, so Smith hopes to make scoring a little easier by getting out in transition.
Returning starters Darryn Bailey and Cohen Donnell will inherit more scoring responsibilities, along with fellow seniors Austin Pierce, D.J. Pushard and Gavin Dumais. They will also need a number of sophomores and freshmen to contribute at both ends.
