Season outlook: The Red Eddies boys team has lost five key athletes from last year’s squad, but promising athletes returning in the high jump, among other events, look to carry the team. On the girls’ side, Edward Little loses two key point scorers from last season but return many key athletes to remain solid.

Gray-New Gloucester Indoor Track

Coach: Todd Mercer (eleventh year)

Conference: WMC Class: B

Last year’s results: Boys — tenth in WMC, 27th in state championship; Girls — fifth in WMC, ninth at state championship.

Returning athletes: Seniors: Andrew Peterson, Ethan Ray, Emily Brewer,  Jaley Martin, Lindey Pierce, Jasmine French, Eliza Larrivee, Alison MacDonald; Juniors: Nathan Gendreau, Madison Post, Erica Schlichting.

What to expect: Gray-New Gloucester is excited about their team this year, filled with lots of interesting new athletes. With more than 80 athletes, head coach Todd Mercer has a lot to work with. The girls’ team is promising, with many different athletes looking to place at the state level. 

Lewiston Indoor Track

What to expect: There will be dependable standouts in the sprints, jumps, shot put and mid-distance, but the Devils are anticipating some new talents to emerge. The girls’ team returns standouts in the high jump, hurdles, sprints, and distance events. Both teams look to develop depth.

What to expect: Poland’s boys’ team features the best depth the program has had in years, especially in the distance and throwing events. The girls’ team will features a fast sprint group and should excel in the jumps and hurdles. 

St. Dom’s/Lisbon Indoor Track and Field

Head Coach: T.J. Niles (second year)

Conference: WMC; Class: B

Returning athletes: None.

Key Losses: Sydney Sirois, Ella Brown, Clare Kramer.

Promissing newcomers: Juniors — Bugsy Hammerton, Nick Walsh; Sophomores — Mark D’Allessandro; Freshmen — Liam Levasseur, Grace Girardin, Sarah Brown.

What to expect: St. Dom’s increases their number of athletes on the team to 14, up ten from last year. Lisbon is adding nine athletes of its own, creating a base for the program.
