The recreational trails in Maine took a major hit due to the Oct. 30 severe rain and wind storm. Many trails were left blocked and unusable, with those in central and western Maine experiencing the brunt of the storm damage, which includes:

• Trees down;

• Bridges and culverts out; and

• Erosion issues.

In an effort to get the trails ready for the snowmobile season, volunteers and State staff have been clearing trails of blowdowns for weeks.

Those who are willing and able to lend a hand may contact a local club to find out when and if trail work will be scheduled.
