Let Your Light Shine celebration
WEST PARIS — The Friends of the West Paris Library will sponsor the annual Let Your Light Shine celebration at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8. Again, the lights around the “Castle,” the original part of the library, and the red heart in the front window will glow on winter evenings.
The community is invited to join in the celebration of the spirit of the season.
Following the illumination of the lights at 6:30 p.m., A’Chording to Kantele will play traditional Christmas and Finnish music. The group plays kanteles, traditional Finnish folk lap harps that date back to prehistoric times. Modern kanteles range from 10 to 36 strings and have a unique bell-like sound.

WILTON — Santa’s Workshop will be held from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 59 High St. Enter through the downstairs kitchen door.
Each year, the church provides area children an opportunity to shop for inexpensive gifts at Santa’s Workshop for their adult loved ones.
While children shop with the help of elves, adults are treated to refreshments in the kitchen. The children then have their finds gift-wrapped. Items are arranged on tables by price, ranging between 25 cents and $1. This is a community outreach program. All of the funds received go back into the program for the next year. In addition, parishioners make donations of gifts for purchase. St. Luke’s Sunday school teacher, Justy Nazar, is the event coordinator.
